I have newly added a view on instagram button to the top of this blog that will link you to my account.
In the past week our little community has gained about 10 followers and we are now at 39, small I know, but the feeling of new people following me to see our pictures makes me very happy.
I don't post on here often because we are better about pictures than real stories, although this week we had some nasty thunderstorms and they scared Franklin quite a bit I'd never seen him like that!
I've been on instagram but my interest to make, what started as an account for me and my friends, public and far reaching only started around when I made this blog.
I can offer tortoise advice but you can find a ton of information on Tortoiseforum.org there is also an app on the ITunes and Android marketplaces. Tortoise forum brought me to a community of people who know what they're talking about, a lot of breeders and serious tortoise keepers. When I say serious I don't mean to say I'm not serious, I mean that they have many tortoise breeds and also just little herds of tortoises, I only have Franklin and only plan to have Franklin. (Although i do have a cousin I seem to have inspired to get a tortoise, after giving up her quite large turtles to a turtle sanctuary.) I do have fish (and Semore the cat) and I do plan to get more reptile and amphibians animals along with German Shepherds and hopefully bunnies (not all at once!), I just want my 50+ lifetime tortoise to hold his place in my heart.
If anyone has ideas they want me to mention or discuss let me know, since I'm currently not sure how many people we have in our little community here.

Tortoises Snuggle
Since getting Franklin and having him become comfortable with me and my girlfriend we've all spent quite some time on the couch with him. Franklin loves to snuggle, I believe it has to do with the warmth from our bodies, the rising and falling of chests from breathing, and heartbeats. No matter the reason he loves it and will fall asleep on you. Now looking back at the fact he was a wild animal shows how well he's adapted in the less than a year he's lived with me.
My family also has a cat named Semore, Franklin loves to snuggle with him too but Semore will only put up with it for so long.
When I got Franklin I knew he would be social but I was never expecting the amount he is!

Franklin's Story
Franklin is my Russian Tortoise. I got him last summer, I was working 2 jobs and in a rough point of depression. A whole list of events went down that I don't like to talk or think about. I kept telling my parents I want a tortoise. Thinking back i have no idea what started that idea, i had goldfish and betta fish that kept dying and I wanted a pet that would last. Franklin is a pet who can live 50+ years. I don't recommend my strategy, because 50+ years is a legitimate lifetime commitment. Franklin is mine for life, and I will forever be his care giver.
This picture was before his tank got a background. Tortoises are not tank animals, you can't just stick them in a tank and expect to be happy. Franklin currently lives in a 20 gallon long tank, due to space issues right now. He goes out every day (weather permitting) and has a rubbermaid tub with more mulch so that he can come watch TV with us and have a change of scenery
Tortoises are social, they get lonely. Franklin loves me, and my girlfriend, we're his mommys. He loves to snuggle presumably because he can feel you breathing and your heart beat. He loves ears a little too much because his head fits in and its interesting to him. Point is you can't just ignore a tortoise they will get grumpy.
I will be posting more care information and facts as i continue to grow this blog. With this new turtle craze i feel tortoises will get lost up in this and people will buy tortoises and not be willing to put the time, care and lifetime into it.
But now i have shared my munchkin with you. I also call him 'Nank, Nay, and Nay-Nay because Franklin is such an uncreative name but him and I both know it and its too late to change, he had the name when i first started looking for tortoise information.
We're also on instagram, Biffforever, most of the pictures are of him or related, we have a small little following but its more than I'd ever thought.
